What to expect
If you are interested in visiting Caucasus, you have to visit Azerbaijan and especially Gobustan. It takes one hour to reach Gobustan from Baku, but the difference between these two places is astonishing. You leave the modern world and visit a unique prehistoric place, Gobustan. Enjoy its unique monuments carved in cliffs, its nature and the dancing mud volcanoes.
Gobustan is situated in eastern Azerbaijan and it is an archaeological reserve. It is a cultural landscape of rock carvings, located on an area of 537 hectares. Gobustan monuments are divided into two groups: 1) Petroglyphs and 2) ancient sites. The tour will then continue exploring the mud volcanoes located close to Gobustan museum.
