The best way to experience Bonaire Washington Park is with a local guide who knows the most beautiful spots! Beautiful and unspoiled are understatements when describing Bonaire Washington Slagbaai National Park.

Discover its treasures on this special guided tour through hidden coves, secluded beaches and salt lakes. Originally inhabited by the Caiquetio Indians, Bonaire Washington Park is the first nature sanctuary of the former Netherland Antilles. Established in 1969 and located in the Northwest part of the Island, it covers an area roughly one-fifth of Bonaire, and it was the location of Slagbaai - the largest most productive plantations during the colonial period. Today the park is home to 2 internationally recognized and protected wetlands known as Ramsar sites and is a safe habitat for Bonaire’s native birds and reptiles. Its pristine beaches are an important nesting ground for both the sea turtles and birds that visit the waters of our unspoiled Island. With a flexible itinerary, you will have plenty of opportunities to admire and photograph the flora & fauna in their natural habitat.

Washington Park is a national nature park with off-roading paths and dirt roads. Get ready for a fun adventure!

Washington park opening hours: 08:00 -17:00 (14:45 is last entry time into the park)
Everyone visiting Bonaire (even the locals) if they want to snorkel they have to pre-purchase an annual Dive Tag or Nature Tag paying an extra fee of 10.00/25.00 USD/per person
Note that for children under the age of 12, entry to the Visitor Centre and the park is free
It is recommended that you bring: sunscreen, sunglasses, extra water, a camera, comfortable shoes or water shoes if you plan to swim - Bonaire's beaches can be rocky, swim wear & towel and Bread or fruit - if you'd like to feed the iguanas and fish
Kindly dress comfortably for warm, sunny, and humid weather
Roads in the park are not paved, so you can expect some bumps along the way
This is a small-group guided tour of up to 7 people per vehicle. You will be in a shared van or car depending on the number of guests
Cruise Ship guests: Your guide will be welcoming you with your first name or last name on a sign in front of the cruise ship exit/enter gate where your ship is docked. When you exit the gate, walk straight forward and look for a sign saying “internet bookings”
Your guide will be there 15 minutes prior to the start of your tour to collect you and then you will be back to the ship 1 hour before the ship departure time
If you don't see your guide with your name, please stay at the gate of your ship and do not walk away and look for your guide, let your guide look for you
