The city comes right out of the imagination of the typical Bavarian town. It’s close to lake Chiemsee, where king Ludwig II built his version of Versailles, known as Herrenchiemsee, it is also known for being the scenery for the German TV series “Die Rosenheim Cops”. Find out more about the city that was once one of the most important satellite cities around Munich and whose salines powered the region with the richness of the “white gold”. Learn also more about the name of this city that is shrouded in mystery: Supposedly, the Inn boatmen knew there were many beauties in this town, therefore calling it "home of the Rose", or Rosenheim.
Stroll through the city and stop at the Mittertor which in the past was the eastern gate of the market before 1350 and is the oldest building in the city. Stroll through the city’s small pedestrian zone and along Münchener Street and the Gillitzerblock. Marvel at the parish church St. Nikolaus with its gothic spire and the baroque onion dome and find out more about the city’s landmark.
