What to expect

If you're looking for an authentic and comfortable way to visit Balos Lagoon, a premium safari road trip is the perfect option.

Unlike ferryboats, you won't have to schedule your entire day around their departures. Instead, your private escort-driver will pick you up from your hotel in a comfortable off-road vehicle, and you'll enjoy an interesting sightseeing tour of parts of North-Western Crete, while listening to local stories and taking in the panoramic views of the area.

Arriving at the heights above magnificent Balos Lagoon you'll receive a lunch box before the hike to reach this paradise beach. After Kissamos you'll travel along on an off-road route at Gramvousa peninsula till you reach the top of Gramvousa peninsula, above Balos Lagoon, where you'll have to park the vehicle. From there your escort will direct you to follow a hike route about 20 to 40 minutes down to the mountainside till you reach Balos Lagoon. Find a cozy place on one of the white sandy beaches of Balos and spend 4 hours discovering the area and swimming in the crystal clear waters.

On the way back up to the parking you'll follow the same hiking route of 30 to 40 minutes approximately, you'll have many opportunities for memorable panoramic photos of Balos Lagoon and Gramvousa Island from above. Finally, your day will end with a smooth ride through North coastline of West Crete back to your hotel.
