What to expect

This grand slam tour packs in central Bali's best heritage sites. Spend a full day exploring Ubud's temples, shrines and ancient holy sites, including Yeh Pulu and Gunung Kawi temples, Goa Gajah, Tegallalang rice terrace and the ancient relic of Goa Garba.

Start with a visit to the Yeh Pulu temple – home to a 25-metre wall carved with reliefs telling the story of ancient Balinese life. Next up is a visit to Goa Gajah – popularly known as ‘Elephant Cave'. The former sanctuary is still used in the rituals of Balinese Hinduism. A cave, ravine, ancient bathing pools and stone shrines await you.

After lunch at a local restaurant, you'll take a scenic route past the rice fields at Tegallalang towards the 11th-century Gunung Kawi temple. Be stunned by its collection of ‘candi' – Balinese rock-cut shrines. End the tour at the ancient relic of Goa Garba temple. Hidden deep in the jungle on the banks of River Pakerisan, it's said that the temple was once a school and meditation place.
