What to expect

Rise early for an exciting day at Cinque Terre, the most characteristic villages of Italy, including a 1.5-hr stop at the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Meet with your tour guide at the train station in Florence and ride the rails to your first stop in Pisa, home of the renowned Leaning Tower, the Baptistry, Campo Santo and Pisa Cathedral. Here you will be free to walk around the square and enjoy taking photos.

After Pisa head to La Spezia train station where you will take the local trains that service the Cinque Terre, 'The Five Lands' - Riomaggiore, Manarola, Vernazza, Corniglia and Monterosso - famous for their natural beauty, scenic trails, spectacular coastline and sunny beaches.

Your first stop will be in Riomaggiore, the first village where, after an orientation walk, you'll have time to stop for a light lunch based on local products at the 'Via dell'Amore', a romantic and evocative promenade hewn from the rocks falling sheer into the sea.

Continue to the next village filled with boats called Manarola for amazing photos. The last village will be Vernazza; here you will be free to relax on the beach, sunbathe or take a swim before returning to Florence.

Important to know

Not suitable for:

  • People with walking disabilities
  • Children

Know in advance

  • The tour is run by train. The Cinque Terre are located 2h30m outside of Florence in the Liguria region. The villages can only be visited by train or boat so in high season due to the popularity of the villages, the trains could be very crowed and subject to delays
  • We recommend for you to not make any travel arrangements on the same day for when we return to Florence in case of any train delays
  • Don’t bring any valuable items on the tour. Thieves are frequent on the Cinque Terre
  • In the unlucky event you are late, and you miss the group, just take the first train to Pisa and you can meet the group there at 10.40am from Piazza Manin. Don’t forget to send a quick email to inform
  • In the summer months, 2 villages will be visited instead of 3 to allow everyone to relax longer in the villages and take a swim. Don’t forget to bring your swimming suit during these months
  • Cinque Terre, comes alive from June until the end of September, however winter is the best time to appreciate the nature, the landscape and the quietness of this magic lands away from the summer crowds
  • From November until March the majority of the shops and local restaurants will close for their annual leave. We recommend bringing a packed lunch during this time
  • The national park paths, due to land slides, can be closed by the local authorities every time they considered it to be dangerous

Remember to bring

  • Weather appropriate clothing (it can be windy, especially in the winter)
