What to expect
Visit the oldest colonial building in South Africa! Built between 1666 and 1679, this castle served as a maritime replenishment station for the Dutch East India Company.
Since 1679, this building has been the centre of the political and military life of the city and is still used as the military headquarters. You'll visit the museum dedicated to the history of the castle and the rooms and exhibits where you'll learn about the inhabitants of the castle, from prisoners to burghers of the Cape.
