About The Edge, New York

On the 100th floor of New York's sixth tallest skyscraper, you'll find The Edge: a triangular observation deck suspended 1,100 feet above the streets of the Big Apple. It's the highest outdoor observation deck in the Western Hemisphere, promising an adrenaline rush and stunning views. Getting up to the deck is a thrilling experience itself, as the lift will whizz you up in just 52 seconds.

The Edge, located in the North Tower at 30 Hudson Yards, opened its doors in 2020, making it one of New York's newest observation points. A unique feature is its transparent section of the floor, giving the feeling of floating above the city. The deck's glass walls are slightly tilted, so leaning against them is sure to give you extra butterflies.

If you prefer to stay inside, there's also an indoor viewing deck. Whether you’re standing inside or out, you’ll have magnificent views of the One World Observatory, the Empire State Building, Central Park, the Statue of Liberty, and New York’s distant surroundings. You can also enjoy a drink at the bar located on the 101st floor while soaking up the view.

Practical information:

  • The Edge is fully wheelchair accessible

  • Guide dogs are allowed

  • Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult

  • Pushchairs are allowed but must be folded in the lift

  • Bicycles, scooters and skateboards are not permitted

  • Food and drinks from outside the venue are not permitted

  • Taking photos for private use is acceptable, but professional photography equipment is not permitted

Prepare your visit to The Edge

What can you see at The Edge?

Experiencing The Edge in New York is truly spectacular. Located in Hudson Yards, this architectural wonder boasts the highest open-air observation deck in the Western Hemisphere. A quick 52-second elevator ride will whizz you up to the 100th floor where you can step out on the triangular glass floor, 1,100 feet above the city. From here, the panoramic view is nothing short of breathtaking, and the glass floors and walls treat visitors to a unique perspective of New York City. After soaking in the sights, you can unwind at the bar on the 101st floor, toasting the city with a high-altitude drink.

What ticket options are available for The Edge?

With a standard ticket to The Edge, you’ll get access to the multimedia experience before boarding the elevator that will take you to the 100th floor where you can start enjoying the 360° views. A standard ticket also includes a digital photo that you’ll receive as a souvenir.

Save time and money with a New York City pass. With a city pass, you can choose from numerous attractions and get the most out of your visit to New York. For example, combine your visit to The Edge with modern art in the MoMA, a trip to the Statue of Liberty or a visit to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum.

How long does a visit to The Edge last?

You can enjoy the view for as long as you want! Normally, most visitors stay at The Edge for about one hour. That way, you can quietly check out the multimedia exhibition first and then enjoy the spectacular views from the observation deck while taking the best photos of the impressive panorama.

What is the best time to visit The Edge?

The Edge tends to be most crowded around from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. To avoid the rush, we recommend visiting early in the morning, right as the observation deck opens, or later in the evening, closer to closing time. The view at sunset is particularly stunning. Even if you decide to visit during peak hours, rest assured there will always be ample room for capturing beautiful photos and soaking in the panoramic views.
