What to expect

Join this full-day tour to the Outback and Chillagoe on an air-conditioned 4WD vehicle with a local guide.

Travel out to Chillagoe while listening to your guide´s informative commentary about the region's wildlife, history, and aboriginal culture. Explore the Chillagoe-Mungaga Caves National Park with an expert local ranger. Travel through historic mining towns and small outback communities. Admire the Chillagoe Smelter Ruins and visit Balancing Rock for a photo opportunity. Enjoy lunch with your fellow travellers at a! See and learn about aboriginal rock art and visit Granite Gorge to observe the wallabies.

Please confirm the pick-up place and time directly with our local partner at least 48 hours before departure. You can find their contact information in the voucher after booking
Pick up from Cairns, Northern Beaches and Port Douglas. Note: Port Douglas and the Northern Beaches are an additional cost, contact the operator prior to travel to confirm and pay
Please wear comfortable clothes and flat shoes or sandals (no flip-flops or high heels). In the winter months (July to August) you are advised to bring a light coat or jacket
Please bring a hat, sunscreen, a camera with extra batteries and memory cards, a water bottle, a towel, insect repellent, extra cash, and a raincoat or umbrella (during the rainy seasons)
A reasonable level of fitness is required. You will need to be reasonably fit as there are stairs, there is some uneven ground and will take an hour to walk through the cave system at a slow pace. There are also confined spaces
All trips are weather permitting at the driver's discretion so the operator reserves the right to cancel the tour, change vessel type, or arrange an alternative carrier in the event of bad weather or mechanical problems.
In the instance that your preferred date of travel is cancelled by us, we will rebook you on the next available date we are departing at no additional cost to you
Southside accommodation: pick up 6.40am, return 6.30pm - 7pm
Cairns City accommodation: pick up between 6.45am – 7am, return 6.30pm - 7pm
Northern Beaches accommodation: International Coaches will pick you up at approximately 6.45 am and transfer you to Canopys Edge Bus Stop in Smithfield where you will be picked up by your guide. This is included in your ticket. You will be returned to Canopys Edge Bus Stop in Smithfield at approximately 6.30 pm where you will be picked up by International Coaches for your return back to the Northern Beaches.
Port Douglas accommodation: this is an additional cost of $82 per person (minimum of 2 people). International Coaches will pick you up between 6 am - 6.15 am and transfer you to the bottom of the Kuranda range where you will be picked up by your guide. Returns between 7pm - 7.30pm.
