What to expect

Whether you've come across the world or you're just down the road - welcome to Bonorong!

Bonorong is a Sanctuary for wildlife run by a passionate team of like-minded people. We're a social enterprise: a little business with a big heart. We operate Tasmania's largest 24hr Wildlife Rescue service, which brings aid to thousands of suffering animals each year. The Wildlife Rescue service (and new Wildlife Hospital) is funded entirely by entry fees, meaning every time we rescue an animal it is because someone like you came through the gate.

Upon entry, you will receive a complimentary bag of kangaroo food. The roos roam free within the Sanctuary and are always keen for a good scratch on the chest and some gentle hand feeding.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Important to know

  • Tickets are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase and can be used on any day of the year
  • You'll also be given a bag of complimentary kangaroo food, so you can enjoy some gentle hand-feeding with the free-roaming kangaroos. These gentle giants love a good scratch on the chest - not the head, back, or tail (they can find touching in these areas quite confusing!), and we do request that any joeys in Mum's pouch are left alone
  • There's no pre-booking needed to join the feeding- just make sure you arrive 5-10 minutes before they start and you can join in. These tours run for 45 minutes and include the wombats, devils, and koalas
  • The Sanctuary is one big circle, so if you stick to the path, you'll see everything! We recommend allowing at least 1 hour if you are self-guiding
  • You should wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe walking shoes and remember to bring a camera (and charge those batteries!)
  • Please bring warm layers of clothing and rainwear just in case - especially in winter!
