Discover Hamburg’s City Nord area during a private and guided walking tour.
In 1959, the city of Hamburg decided to build City Nord as an “office city in the green” and as a model city of modernity. Administrative buildings of large companies and public authorities have been built on a site north of the city park.
Walk through the area characterized by free arrangement of the buildings, mono-functionality, a six-lane street arch, separate pedestrian levels and immerse yourself to the impression of a built utopia. See the Vattenfall building by Arne Jacobsen and the former Shell building by Gerkan, Marg & Partner. Pass by the former BP building and stroll through the “Central Zone” planned as the heart of the city.
Find out more about the history of the concept City Nord, its architecture, social considerations and its current developments.
