Meteora is the largest archaeological site of Greece and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1989 and an official holy place for Greece since 1995. Meteora is a complex of giant rocks with Christian Orthodox monasteries lie on top of them. The six active Meteora monasteries create a truly inspiring and sensational setting of overwhelming rock formations, with these ancient monuments occupying their picks.

The area is so famous that even Hollywood could not resist shooting a movie there and in 1981 the most famous British spy, 00 7, was climbing amidst the Holy Trinity Monastery for the movie “For your eyes only"!
