What to expect
Marmaris is one of the most attractive tourist locations on the west Turkish coast. Is just a short cruise away, two countries, one’’ Holiday’’. Guests depart from the tourist port where the collection of boarding passes is required. Then they pass through passport control before boarding the boat.
Upon arrival, guests are taken to a picturesque location for a short photo stop and then for a visit to Gold Center where they will have information and sale.
Afterwards clients will visit the Leather center, where they can assist to a fashion leather shop and have the opportunity to browse and shop. The next stop will be at old town and guests have free time at the bazaar to explore the harbor, shop for bargains. The Order of St John of Jerusalem occupied Rhodes from 1309 to 1523, transforming the city into a stronghold. Their fortifications will be the focus of your photography masterclass. How will you capture the story of Rhodes through your images? Your visit begins with a theory session where your National Geographic-trained photography guide will share tips on composition, lighting, and storytelling through photography. To add an exciting dimension to your day's photography, your tutor will run a competition to find the best shot of the day. With that motivation, you'll walk around the perimeter of the fortress and through the huge gateway, capturing shots of the medieval elements. As you enter the old walled town of Rhodes – which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988 – more exciting shooting locations will reveal themselves, including the Street of Knights and the Clock Tower. Your guide will offer technical advice, demonstrate the best angles, and point out good places to capture wow-factor photos. Eleni, one of our local crew members, says, 'Rhodes was once a hugely important trading post in the Mediterranean region, and pirates were a real threat to this success. The island's governors directed the Rhodes Navy to spend all their time policing the waters nearby in order to protect the ships carrying valuable goods such as salt and olive oil.'
