What to expect

The Snæfellsnes peninsula is an area that is incredibly rich in natural sights, culture and history. The peninsula is often known as “Iceland in miniature” due to the fact that a majority of the country's highlights can be found here.

On this small group Snæfellsnes tour, you will be visiting all the must-sees in a more intimate experience, maximizing your time on the peninsula. Your tour will start with a stop at the Berserkjahraun lava fields, before heading to Kirkjufell waterfalls, where you can enjoy get a great view of Mount Kirkjufell. Your next stop will be at the black basalt beach of Djúpalónssandur where you will be able to spot fossils of birds and fish, and you will stop to see the Lóndrangar pinnacles and basalt cliffs. You will then get to visit the 700.000-year-old subglacial Snæfellsjökull volcano, a beautifully formed start volcano covered with ice and seen from Reykjavík on a good day.Then you will head to Arnarstapi fishing village which developed over the years to become a large shipping port, and you will learn about the Icelandic tales of Bárður who was half man and half ogre.

You will then stop to take fantastic pictures to the idyllic Búðir Black Church, and, finally, to Ytri Tunga beach, to search for the seal colonies.
