Steeped in mythology, the cultural park of Garuda Wisnu Kencana is bursting with things to see and do. Stimulating performances, legendary tales and iconic sculptures are all on the agenda.
Rising above it all is the grand Garuda Wisnu Kencana, which takes centre stage on this tour. The majestic shrine towers over the island at an impressive 120 meters, making it one of the world's tallest monumental statues and the highest in Indonesia.
Once you've pulled yourself away from the imposing centrepiece, wander around the park's main square – Lotus Pond. Framed by steeply rising limestone walls, it's home to the statue of the mythical being of Garuda. If you're feeling spiritual, rejuvenate with sacred water at Parahyangan Somaka Giri fountain. Its mineral-rich springs are believed to have healing abilities. Wrap up your visit at the amphitheatre, where you can enjoy one of the many scheduled performances. From traditional Balinese dance displays like Barong or Keris, to cinematic shows – there's something for everyone.
