What to expect

Explore a historical world filled with discovery on this full-day guided tour and learn its history through its top sites (and hidden ones too): Valley of Armageddon, Kinneret (Sea of Galilee), Golan Heights, Shalom Observatory, Katzrin, Golan Antiquities Museum and more.

Starting from Herzliya, you'll pass Natanya, then head north along the coastal road parallel to the Mediterranean, turning inland and driving through the Valley of Armageddon. You'll hear about the revelations and see Megiddo which, is the site of an ancient Biblical city. Once reached the southernmost point of the Sea of Galilee, you'll look down on the sea from above and take in the picturesque view known as pastoral vista. This panoramic view has the Kinneret (Sea of Galilee) in the foreground and the undulating Golan Heights forming a dramatic backdrop. Then, you'll venture across the Jordan River to the foot of the Golan Heights and begin ascending through Hamat Gader. You'll continue through the lush green countryside until reaching the Shalom Observatory. From here, see the Israeli city of Tiberias in the distance on the edge of the Sea of Galilee.

Next, the journey takes you to Katzrin, where excavations have uncovered a village from the Mishnah and Talmud periods. This village has been partially restored, and you'll explore the archaeological findings which, include a synagogue, houses, and an oil press. See also evidence of former volcanic activity in the Golan Heights as black basalt rock forms part of the landscape. Learn how this city is sometimes referred to as the Capital of the Golan as you visit the Golan Antiquities Museum. Also, hear about the city of Gamla and visit Mount Bental to see what remains of Syrian fortifications to complete your day.
