What to expect

The tour starts from the central Piazza Duomo. The route goes through the stalls of the fish market offering customers the unique opportunity to discover all its secrets. The guide selects for customers the best samples of the day to taste (e.g. octopus, anchovies, fruit, delicatessen products) telling recipes and curiosities. The walk proceeds to Villa Bellini, where the men of the neighborhoods gather daily to play cards. Not to be missed is the “arancino” with meat sauce and “cipolline” with mozzarella and shallot.

You will learn something new about food, but also about culture and history. The walking tour of Catania takes place not only on the road, but also... under the road. One of the most exciting moments is the view of the underground river Amenano, which flows along a lava tunnel. History lovers will also appreciate the passage to Piazza Federico di Svevia, where the imposing Ursino Castle stands.

To survive the sultry summer mornings, you will be offered a traditional Catania seltzer (refreshing syrup). The tour of Catania ends with “granita” and brioche or “minnuzza di Sant'Agata”. All tour participants will receive the Passaporto del Mangione (foodie passport) as a gift.
