What to expect

Prepare to join a grand sumo tournament tour in Tokyo, a group tour with real-time commentaries by a sumo expert guide.

Your experience includes an optional walking tour around the sumo town of Ryogoku. Visit historical sumo landmarks and look at sumo stables from outside, where sumo wrestlers live and train. Increase the joy of watching the tournament by learning a lot about sumo from your knowledgeable guide with an earphone system, as you visit much sumo related must-see spots before you actually view the bouts in the arena.

Your guide will provide a pamphlet showing photos and profiles of wrestlers with English translation; see the photo section and a cheer-up towel for a particular wrestler. The guide will teach you how to use it when the wrestler is going to fight; cheering up a particular wrestler will increase joy of watching.

You'll also have the possibility to enjoy an optional dinner at a chanko-nabe restaurant, and learnabout the dish which is the centerpiece of sumo wrestlers’ diet.
