And with this small-group tour, you'll get to know even more about the Moroccan gem. You'll visit Othello Gallery, try local products at an argan oil farm and enjoy a guided tour of the city.
First on the agenda is a visit to an argan oil workshop. Here you'll learn about the production process before having the opportunity to sample products such as tea, bread and olive oil. You can pick up some locally produced argan goods at the shop, your purchase contributing to the support of local families.
Next, there's a guided walk around Essaouira - visiting the port, municipal market, jewellery district and even an artisanal centre. You'll then have free time to explore on your own and delve into the region's culinary scene for lunch. Once you're refuelled, discover the city's artistic past and present at Othello Espace. Now, when I return, I'm filled with nostalgia as I tour the alleys where I used to play football with my Arab and Jewish friends. Essaouira has always been a multicultural melting pot.'On day one, we'll hit the road to Marrakech, where on arrival you'll delve straight into the medina's warren of tightly-packed streets. Spend the morning taking in sights as we drop by places like Jardin Secret, before lunch at Dar Nejarine. After some free time to explore, we'll head to Djemaa el-Fna at dusk – the best time to see it – before a tasty dinner and traditional entertainment in a riad.On day two we'll head to the coastal city of Essaouira. Its mellow atmosphere, narrow winding streets laden with kaleidoscopic carpets, peeling-paint houses with and heavy old wooden doors make it a wonderful place to wander around.
