What to expect

Cross the border of Moldova and discover its capital Chisinau on this full-day private tour from Iasi. With a guide at your side, explore Chisinau, view the Arc of Triumph, and visit a winery in its wine region.

Your first stop will be at one of the oldest and most beautiful monuments in Moldova: Capriana Monastery. For a long time, the monastery has been the residence of the Metropolitan bishop of Moldova and it has been patronized by many Rulers of Moldova through the centuries.

Chisinau has been documented for the first time in 1436, but most of it was destroyed during WWII and by a tragic earthquake that struck in 1940. The rebuilding of the city started in the 1950s in a Soviet-style, and both the center and the outskirts are dominated by utilitarian high-rise buildings. On your tour, you will discover Chisinau’s main attractions: the Triumphal Arch, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, and others in the city center.

After a visit of the city, your itinerary will bring you to Cricova Winery, situated at a depth of 50-80 meters under the ground, where you will discover an underground city. The Moldovan cellars where Vladimir Putin keeps his wine are so big, that you will need to drive through them. You will also find Herman Goering's private wine collection, captured by the Red Army from Berlin in 1945. Considered to be the pearl of Moldovan wine making, Cricova is renown for the production of high-quality elite wines. The influence of Ancient Greece and the Roman period is reflected in the reliefs you will discover inside the winery. In this unique place, you will have the opportunity to discover the steps to taste wine and try a selection of a great range of wines. Optionally, you may choose to have an unforgettable lunch in this fantastic place.

At the end of the tour, you will be transferred back to Iasi.
