What to expect

Medieval Cordoba was a multicultural metropolis that served as a melting pot for Muslims, Christians and Jews. Nowadays, it's renowned for its UNESCO-listed old town, flower-festooned patios and magnificent mosque, which you'll discover on this tour.

We kick off in the San Basilio neighbourhood, famed for its pebbled streets of whitewashed houses bedecked in flowers and plants. They bring so much colour to the city and are eminently instagrammable. We'll visit one of the most emblematic courtyards, the Patio de la Asociación, to admire its blooming flowers or immaculately manicured potted plants. Heading towards the great mosque, you'll wind your way through the former Jewish district. Known as La Juderia, its alleys are a medley of Roman, Moorish, Christian and Jewish influences.

But the star of the show is without doubt the mosque, or mezquita. Get the lowdown from your guide on the history behind this UNESCO World Heritage Site. It boasts 800 two-tiered arches, honeycombed domes and many more treasures. Uniquely, it hosts a Renaissance cathedral in its core. There's also free time for lunch – why not head to La Juderia for a salmorejo? – and the chance to cross the famous Roman Bridge by foot.
