What to expect
With its mangrove forests, seagrass beds, coral reefs, and biodiversity, you won't have run out of things to see in Uzi. You'll cross when the tide is low and set off on a guided tour into local heritage and culture at Uzi village, a rural Swahili village, and around. You'll see the locals do activities like weaving, carpentry, bee farming, and seaweed farming while learning about the sites.
The tour will bring you to Muyuni Village as well, where you'll get to know the lifestyle of the locals by spending some time in the village and you'll understand the importance of their traditions. Watch them bring ancient crafts to life as they introduce you to the art of rope making, basket weaving, and makuti plating.
After getting to know the community at the village school, you'll set off to explore the mystical Ngonga Cave. Witness a witchcraft healing ceremony in the underground hall, then wander the network of passages and tunnels with your guide. Along the way, you'll discover the history of the cave as a home for vampire bats and the spirits of the Muyuni people's ancestors.

Then it's time to make your way to the next stop of the day – Paje seaweed centre, a socially responsible business which allows local women to make a living as seaweed farmers, growing and collecting the crop on the splendid nearby beaches.Before you tour the facilities, you'll have free time for lunch, then you'll take a look around the factory where the local seaweed farmers will be at work harvesting and processing. A variety of beauty and wellness products are available for purchase, too. With snorkelling at the famed Mnemba Atoll marine conservation area, this full-day tour is Zanzibar through and through. You'll cruise on a wooden dhow boat to snorkel amongst coral reefs and have a seafood feast for lunch on board.Firstly, you'll go to the dive centre in Kendwa to grab your equipment and be briefed on the day ahead. Then board the dhow boat for a cruise along the northeast coast of Zanzibar to Mnemba Atoll – hopefully you'll spot dolphins along the way.
