What to expect
Get ready for a day out in the snow in either Pyhä or Luosto. After you have met your expert guide, you will follow a short theory workshop where you will learn about arctic nature and the survival skills you need. You will get an introduction to the most important gear you need like sleeping bags, sleeping mats, suitable clothing. After all the theory you can enjoy a nutritious meal during a well-deserved break.
Next, it is time to go out into the real wild woods of the arctic. Your guide will now show you how to build a quinzee, a traditional snow shelter. After the show you will build one yourself. Hollow out a pile of snow and try to build your own quinzee as if you needed to survive the arctic night. Once you have managed to build your very own snow shelter you will head back to town.
