What to expect
Learn about local wildlife during this full-day trip visiting two locations: one of the most authentic reindeer farms in Rovaniemi and the famous Wildlife Park in Ranua. This combination gives you a perfect opportunity to see and learn about the different arctic animals.
Your guide will first drive you to one of the most traditional reindeer farms in Lapland, just outside of Rovaniemi. As you will be taken in the surroundings, you will learn about the reindeer from the herders as they show you around. Because you are the first visit of the day, you can feed the reindeer their favourite food, lichen! The visit ends with some time around the fire where the herder will answer all your questions.
Your guide will then drive you to Ranua Wildlife Park, where you will enjoy a tasty buffet lunch at the restaurant before exploring the park.
At the park, you can follow the 2,5 km wooden boardwalks through the forest to admire the arctic animals. It is a rare opportunity to meet the local animals of Lapland. As you walk around the park, your guide will share with you their knowledge of the animals and other aspects of life in Lapland.
The animals you can spot in the Ranua Wildlife Park include the polar bears, brown bears (not in Winter though, as they are hibernating), predatory birds, owls, wild boars, musk oxen, otters, arctic foxes, wolves, wild reindeer, wolverines, moose... At the end of the tour, you will return to Rovaniemi with knowledge of arctic wildlife, and the memory full of lovely animals!
