What to expect
Meet the most iconic animal of Lapland during a visit to one of the most traditional reindeer farms in Lapland. Choose between two different tours: a long visit the focus on the lifestyle of herders (1) or a shorter visit with a long 2,5km safari (2).
(1) Enjoy being the first visit of the day (at 9.00 am) and learn about the reindeer from the herders. They will show you around the traditional farm and as you are the first visit of the day, you can feed the reindeer their favourite food, lichen. Test your driving skills during a short loop sleigh ride of 400m (2 min ride). At the end of your visit, you will gather around the fire in the company of a herder who will answer all your questions you may have.
(2) If you prefer a long sleigh ride (tour at 10:00 or 14:00) choose this option. Upon arrival, you will step into a sleigh to go for a sleigh ride pulled by a reindeer. The reindeer sleigh ride is an old way of traveling or carrying loads. As you travel through the snowy forest, you can spot some arctic animals. Back at the farm, a warm cup of coffee or tea and traditional snacks await you. The herder will tell you about their lifestyle and reindeer husbandry, take the opportunity to ask them questions and feed your curiosity! Before leaving and heading back to Rovaniemi, you can always ask your guide to spend some extra at the farm if you wish.
