What to expect
Stroll through the neighborhood of Rome where Caravaggio lived and worked. Admire some of the most beautiful masterpieces in three churches in the historic center, and learn more about his lifestyle and exceptional technical skills.
Together with your guide you'll start the tour from Piazza del Popolo and visit the Basilica of Santa Maria del Popolo, where the famous Cerasi Chapel houses the Crucifixion of St. Peter and the Conversion of St. Paul. Passing through Palazzo Madama and Palazzo Giustiniani, two of Caravaggio's residences, you'll reach the Church of Sant'Agostino to see the Madonna of Loreto, known as the Madonna of the Pilgrims, preserved in the Cavalletti Chapel.
Finally, in the Contelli Chapel, located in the Church of San Luigi de' Francesi, you'll discover the cycle of painting on St. Matthew: St. Matthew and the Angel, Martyrdom of St. Matthew and Calling of St. Matthew.
